DFW Lash University is hosting our first-ever Headshot Day on Sunday, May 31st — an exclusive event for DLU students and alumni. You'll walk away with a polished, ready-to-use professional photo for your Instagram, Google Business Profile, booking page, website, and business card.

Your headshot is your first impression. Here's exactly what to wear — and what to leave at home.
✅ Colors That Work
- Solid neutrals — cream, white, blush, sage, taupe
- Deep jewel tones — forest green, burgundy, navy, gold
- Your brand colors, if you have a signature palette
- Classic black — always clean, always professional
❌ What to Avoid
- Busy patterns, loud prints, or distracting graphics
- Logos, graphic tees, or casual sportswear
- Bright neons that distract from your face
- Anything that doesn't fit properly — fit photographs better
- Low cut tops, strapless, tube tops, or short shorts — keep it polished and professional

Wear your hair and makeup how you would for a client appointment. Natural to glam is perfect. Fresh, clean lashes are a must — you're the artist after all.

Pack 1–2 outfit options and change between shots. Variety gives you more choices when you review your photos.

5 Poses to Practice in the Mirror
You don't need to be a model. We'll guide you on-site — but practicing these beforehand means you'll feel more natural and relaxed in front of the camera.

Face the camera directly, shoulders relaxed, light natural smile. Clean, professional, timeless. Works for every platform.

Angle your body 45°, then turn your head to face the camera. Adds depth and dimension — makes you look more dynamic without trying hard.

You don't need all of these. Pick 1–2 that feel natural and represent how you want to show up in your brand. The best prop is the one that feels like you.
What Happens on the Day
Here's exactly what your Headshot Day experience will look like from arrival to exit.
Arrive at your scheduled time slot. Sessions run in 15-minute windows. Late arrivals may miss their slot, so plan ahead.
Multiple shots in multiple poses. You'll move through a few different positions and prop combinations to give you a full range of images to choose from.
Change outfits between sets if you brought options. Switching looks mid-session gives you double the variety without doubling the time.
Edited photos delivered after the event. You won't leave empty-handed — your polished, edited photos will be shared with you after May 31st.
The vibe is relaxed and supportive. We're here to make you feel comfortable — just show up as yourself and we'll handle the rest.
